Module 1DEV 321 is a semester long module offered in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies for the final year students. The focus is on developing an in depth understanding of the link between industry and development. The module covers a wide range of topics which include industry and decentralization, the meaning of the term corporate social responsibility, the role and impact of multinational corporations and SMMEs on local economic development, social and cultural development, industrial tourism, and local economic development. A critical review of the South African industrial policy will also be conducted.
