Welcome to the module SAAS332. This module is designed to introduce you to the following modern production systems;
Pig production system: It will introduce the modern pig breeding practices and programmes, breeding systems and methods. Pig production management and improvement schemes will also be revised. Multiplication testing, performance testing, penetrance and halothane stress gene in pigs will also be discussed. Traits of economic importance, stockmanship, animal handling and factors affecting pig production viability in relation to the Economics of pig production will also be discussed.
