CPLG 311 MUNICIPAL GOVERNANCE

This module 2PLG 311 & 301 entails or serves to

  • Provide knowledge to students on how the local sphere of government operates and how it is governed. The focus on local sphere of government is significant since it the sphere closest to the people amongst the three spheres namely local, provincial and national government.

  • Enables students to understand the processes that are involved in governing municipalities in South Africa and legislations that are applicable and governing the local sphere of government.

  • Municipal governance module is offered at third year level. It is a prerequisite to the Municipal Structures and Administration (CPLG 201) offered at second year level.


2PAD321: Research Methodology

This module serves to enable learners to provide and develop knowledge, attitudes, and research skills within the context of Public Administration, whilst also developing an appreciation of Indigenous Knowledge within the area of research.  Students will be exposed to a wide range of issues and/or concepts in social science research methodology. In this course, they are expected to acquire relevant knowledge and basic skills needed to carry out a research project from problem identification, conceptualizing level formulating the statement of the research problem, etc. Various research methods will be discussed including quantitative and qualitative research methods.
