ECME00B - Media in Education
Dear ECEM 00B Students
Welcome to the module Media in Education. Media in Education is a core module, which integrates relevant media/resources and Learner Teacher Support Materials (LTSM) in teaching and learning. This module will equip you with skills and knowledge to be able to select the most suitable teaching and learning materials for all kinds of learners you will face in your teaching profession.
You must always remember that teachers are lifelong learners and researchers. Overtime in your career, you will observe how ‘the kind’ of learner in your classrooms change in a way that you will need to adjust, develop, recreate, and introduce completely different support materials.
I hope that after this module you would have developed creative ways of thinking about LTSM and how they can be effectively used to meet the diverse needs of your students. It will help you get used to being creative and appropriately use LTSM if you use what we learn in this module in your ‘professional practice’ as you go out for your teaching practice, and for your first year of service as a teacher.
Please note that most of our class time will be spent on discussions (in groups) about what we will read, and from lecture talks about LTSM. This is to allow conversations about appropriate use of LTSM and to have micro teaching lessons where we put in practice all that we have learned.
I expect you to participate in class discussions. You will be able to participate by reading allocated reading before class so that you have aspects to share with your classmates.
I hope that you will all participate to make sure that you benefit from this Module.
Looking forward to a meaningful, insightful semester with you!
