This module equips students with the skills to perform basic mathematical calculations in the business environment. This module has been developed to provide learners with the skills necessary to perform, quickly and accurately, common calculations they may encounter in their personal and business lives. Topics covered include basic number operations, fractions, decimal numbers, percentages, ratios and proportions, equations, payroll and taxes. Learners who complete this module should be adequately prepared to engage with more complex calculations in more advanced quantitative courses.

2FAX001: Foundation Economics 1A

The purpose of this module is to give students an introduction to the most important concepts in microeconomics. It is designed to prepare students for the first-year microeconomics course. Students who complete this course will have an advantage in interpreting and analyzing graphs, one of the most challenging aspects of undergraduate economics. Topics covered include opportunity cost, demand and supply, elasticities, cost and production, and market structure.
